

The Community Wellness Center, complete with a swimming pool, fieldhouse, running track, fitness, weightroom and dance studios, provides a complete physical-fitness program for students and the community. To accomplish these goals, the architect collaborated with administrators, faculty, staff, students and community members to integrate programming and technology elements. Goals of the program included: accommodate/expand from a 1,000-student to a 3,000-student facility integrate technology into every phase of curriculum and facility programs incorporate community use provide a distinct architectural/community statement to the expanded facility, while completely renovating 80,000 square feet of existing space. Faced with a burgeoning student population, Lockport Township High School responded with a major expansion program at its East Campus facility.
